Sak X Converse : Chucks Get an Italian Makeover

Converse, the iconic American sneaker, gets a sophisticated makeover in the brands latest collaboration with Japan-born designer, Ryusaku Hiruma of Sak. With an ambition to master Italian craftsmanship, Hiruma moved to Florence twelve years ago and indeed mastered the craft. “I wanted to bring together the history of Florence and Converse’s legacy,” Hiruma says of the collaboration with Converse. His expertise manifests in the all-leather shoes – he personally stitched, tweaked, and perfected each pair of the classic Chuck’s from tongue to sole, bringing only 64 pairs of each style worldwide. Curated by the Momu fashion museum in Antwerp, the exhibit captures the creativity and spirit of the house of Margiela. With installations, photography, video, films, and of course garments by one of fashions most innovative visionaries, the exhibit runs through September 5th and is definitely not one to be missed.
